![]() I think its a bug, as I have owned many previous gen cards and they never had this behaviour.īut curious if anyone else has noticed this, note its probably not going to be an issue in modern games which load up the gpu, also if people are not capping framerate. When the DWORD DisableDynamicPstate is set to 1 for your active graphics card under the display adapter class settings it will cause your graphics card to operate at it's highest defined frequencies similarly to setting your NVIDIA card to Prefer Maximum Performance in the power settings. game stutters when exiting menus as it has to get out of idle clocks, so I tried prefer maximum performance, and its going down to 2d clocks, and not only going down it seems to do it a lot, the game was a stutter fest. I noticed when playing fable anniversary if I use optimal performance its not that bad but it isnt perfect, e.g. So expected behaviour based on all my old nvidia gpu's, is that when this option is selected the gpu clock speed will never fall below base 3d speed (typically somewhere in the mid to high 1000mhz range.), the benefit of this option is for older games where the gpu is overpowered so it falls down to 2d clocks, but then this causes stutters as 2d clocks wont be enough to run game smoothly, so typically in these games the gpu can have a problem of looping between 2d and 3d clocks, which "prefer max performance" fixes. Just want to know if anyone's seen anything like this before.Seems this isnt working properly for me, unless its changed by design. If this is a hardware issue that just requires a replacement, I have it under warranty and can have it exchanged or replaced fairly quickly. anyone have any idea what this is? If it is a software problem or something miscellaneous that can be fixed, I'd love to get this laptop back into working order. They should be capable of running much hotter before this ever becomes an issue with the thermals. This has been happening even when the GPU temps have been in the 55-60 degrees Celsius range. I am reasonably certain this isn't an issue with thermal throttling. Basically set every Nvida setting that can possibly limit power consumption to not do so. Set the Power management mode to prefer max performance. Updating all power settings to favour high performance.ĥ. If youre on nvidia, open the control panel, got to 3D settings, Program Settings, Add Ryujinx. Uninstalling all performance monitoring or overclocking software. Done with GeForce Experience, then manually, then with DDU, but neither worked.Ģ. Uninstalling and reinstalling my Nvidia drivers numerous times and reinstalling them. ![]() There's no way these values are normal.ġ. A power consumption of 750 watts is outrageously high. Likewise, the GPU load spikes to 99% and stays there just about until I turn the computer off.Ī quick glance at the power consumption and the PerfCap value raises some additional eyebrows. So, right away, the clock speed is dropped to 247 mhz (some software will instead show the clock speed as 210 mhz), basically tanking the computer's ability to run just about any modern game. I can't play anything on it at this point since the performance is just that bad.īelow is a screenshot taken right after I boot the computer up and immediately after launching a game (in this case, A Plague Tale: Requiem): These days, when I first launch a game on it right after booting the laptop up, it will run at its usual high performance for about ten to twenty seconds, then suddenly tank the performance down to a slideshow level of less than 10 FPS, which it won't be able to come out of until I boot it up again. It's been about perfect for what I wanted out of it. When I first picked the thing up it was capable of running newly released games such as Dead Space Remake or Resident Evil 4 at just about maxed settings with a consistent 60+ FPS. Lately, I've noticed that my GPU's performance has been abysmal as of late, which is strange. I usually prefer to stick to a powerful gaming desktop + weaker work laptop combination, but I decided to stick the two together and get a decent gaming laptop so I wouldn't have to worry about switching between setups after my daily commute. ![]() I picked up a Gigabyte Aorus 17 Gaming Laptop last December. ![]() ![]() So, I've been having an issue for the past week or so that I'm hoping someone can give me even a little bit of a pointer towards. ![]()
